My paintings are often connected with impulses which provoke deep emotions and therefore reactions. From the beginning of this blog the idea behind it was to share my process of the creation of an artwork. Recently I started with the cycle "Life conquered death" without a planned model. Today's painting is included into that cycle. Todays work was provoked by yesterday's words of Charles Lincoln and his preaching based on Leviticus 1. He explained the sacrifice among Old Testament Israelites. You see, I couldn't comprehend for a long time why innocent animals had to be slaughtered to cover the sins of the nation over a short time. I knew that all was pointing towards Jesus and the shortcomings of the Law, but.... And then I got the hint: THE HIDEOUSNESS OF SIN. The picture is much more vivid than the words. Every Israelite had to slaughter a young animal, skin it and take out the inwards by himself. The scent of death and the awfulness of the scene, blood sprinkling around the altar, … the hideousness of sin and the death which sin causes.
God sent Jesus Christ, his beloved son, to die for sinners, innocent and pure as a lamb.
LIFE CONQUERED DEATH
At a certain point of my painting process I remembered to photograph some stages.

While outside, clouds started to cumulate before the storm.
