As I work with alternative photography, so it happens that I found all that different sorts of paper very lovable. One lead to another and now I am researching different methods to produce my images with a graphic press, without a press but in the domain of graphic arts, etc. Now my paintings are catching up with my photographs and vice versa. Today I am posting my monotype paintings, done with oils on a 300gr cold pressed paper. Monotyping is a type of printmaking made by drawing or painting on a smooth, non-absorbent surface. The image from the surface, or matrix is then transferred onto a sheet of paper by pressing the two together, usually using a printing-press. Monotyping produces a unique print, or monotype; most of the ink is removed during the initial pressing. It is a process of making original, one of a kind artwork with effect of surprise. I use glass as a matrix on which I paint with an oil paints, mixed to desired shades and colors. Through Fine Art America one can buy my monotype reproductions and an original is obtainable directly from me. Contact me for details.
Vandyke process gets its name from its similarity in color to the deep brown pigment used by the Flemish painter Van Dyck. VDB is an iron-based process, processes that utilize the action of light on ferric salts. It is hand developed photograph. Each developing is unique. Different papers, temperature etc. have a big influence on the final result.
I thought I am through with blogger, but never say never...
I am back after almost two years. As an artist I needed some time of distance, where I removed myself from the routine and tried something different. My painterly skills are upgraded, so to speak. I changed my interests. Now I am exploring oil paints and landscape, a more traditional way of thinking. As a photographer I moved towards alternative photography, mixing chemicals, developing with sun etc. It seems that "modern" is not enough for me and I wanted to learn from the wisdom of past times, past masters and apply it in my world of today. Now I listen where my heart leads, much more then before. If I do not have passion for it, why should I invest my time and effort in it? I removed my silaartphoto blog and left only this one and the one I have on my official web page www.silaart.com
I have a new store where I sell small original paintings and photographs. It is on Etsy, check it out Etsy Lidija Ivanek SiLa

Somehow the period during the Summer became ours (my hubby and me) time to work on modifications and upgrading our web site. This year was not different for that matter, with a hope that there will be no future drastic changes.
Unifying photos and pictures, news and sales in one place, has always been my goal. As it came to the realization and integration of different directions in my inner creativity, so now the inner change became visible in my on-line identity, the web site.
I will not continue to keep a blog on Blogger, because now all that will be at one address www.silaart.com.
The communication with you, my faithful beneficiaries of art, our companions in adventure trips, will still be active, because you can easily make a comment on each post after a simple registration.
